I don’t think there is a sensor activity toddlers don’t like. All of them are great. All of them benefit a lot.
Lately I have been trying to implement Olympic theme in our daily life and play. Why? Because I find Olympic rings very helpful in teaching kids the colors, which we have been already successfully doing with this Olympic Puzzle. Personally, I think it’s more fun that way.
Preparation for Sensor Activity Toddlers
2. Cut out 5 sticks of those colors and tape them to the container.
3. Put your preferred sensory ingredients. (today we had a mix different lentils, rice and some rock salt).
4. Hide the rings under the sensory mixture and invite your toddler for some a fun sensor activity.
There are many variations with this sensor activity toddlers can benefit from. Your munchkin will be enjoying the feel of the sensory mixture and then it will be fun to find a colorful thingies with the hole (which my son loved pouring rice through). To add more to this activity, toddler can place the rings on appropriate colors. Well, that was fun in our house.
In fact, this activity is not only for the sensor play, it requires some motor skills (by placing the rings on the sticks) and of course, the color recognition and matching. So it’s like 3 in 1. At least.
